Why is it that people like my fanart better than my originals? kind of depressing if i think about it -_- i mean, if i redrew one of my fave anime pictures, i think i would get alot of pageviews and faves. but to me, personally, redrawing something is easy, and it only seems like i'm cheating myself. so i work harder to do originals -_-
yeah... just wondering aloud

on to more uh happier topics, i'm liking the new drawing technique i started. *grins smartly* i sketch with a colored pencil and then trace with a graphite pencil! it's really strange, because it looks pretty good, and better then my usual pictures. i know people already draw pics this way, but it was new to me.

thats all for now~

sometimes originals can be appreciated just as well as fanart... such as .. Those original characters that Kaze-Hime made and everyone is drawing a fanart of her original characters to applease her or for her contest or whatever that's going on in that area-- then again, that's still counts as a fanart.. ironically.........

anywho, people dun know u yet.. not too fairly well enough to fave your original characters.. because there aren't any good depths that others can be interest about like reading a good book or watching a TV series... it should take some notice by making a certain product for those original characters such as a manga by you, like Blackbird for an example. And just mostly drawing those charactesr and doing a good job of it... then expand it's advertising system by creating a website that's based on those characters or your original artwork style as the main theme. It can also account that if people know more about those original characters, they'll become more interested and they'll get sucked into the product-- basically it's about marketing. It doesn't have to be profit, for some artists like the idea of selling her/his talent for money with false originality (I'm not gonna name names here.).

Some people are even willingly to compensate for others to enjoy your original characters by initializing a trial of contests, or art trades, and in return you do a favour for them by giving them a prize.

People dun tend to do something for no reason, unless they're stupid, or insanely random.

For myself, I did two fanart of an anime series for a fansub, so I helped out... and gave out some recognition into the world that I still exist-- it's all about volunteering for me. I'm not receiving a paycheque or anything, but rather a sign that i still exist or that i exist as an artist and leaving my name somewhere where others could see and visit my DA for more art in my gallery.

Basically it's about advertising and promotion, but u prolly know about that stuff already.

anyway, sketching with a coloured pencil and then tracing it over with a dark pen or pencil is a good idea.

but i dun do that, i tried, but i failed miserably.... :S :S :S!

><;; I just use pencil and draw neatly on paper >__>;

then again, nothing's wrong with anyone drawing something that they like, sure they dun own it, but the art, they do. However, it's just about entertaining yourself while you still draw. So you shouldn't go worrying about it.
